Last night I watched this show on the WE network called Platinum Babies. These couples spend thousands of dollars on their baby showers and nurseries. They bring in designers, party planners, stylists, personal shoppers, feng shui consultants – you name it. Obviously they have money to blow. ($40,000 on a nursery!?) It got me thinking – not about how retarded these couples were for ordering white linen sheets for their crib – but about how so many of these people’s jobs are complete and utter bullshit. $200 AN HOUR for some dude to come in and bless your nursery in feng shui harmony. Really? Hell I’ll come in, move a chair and burn some incense for $50 an hour. I’m a deal! There was even a professional baby-proofer. I had no idea this job even existed until this show. But evidently whoever this couple used, she came highly recommended and was even used by TomKat.

And don’t get me started on customized shite. Couples spend even more money if it’s something with their baby’s name on it– you paint some doodad with their nursery colors, slap on some family photos and a wooden name – $1000 in your hand. It’s unbelievable what rich people will buy. It’s like if they see that something is expensive, they need it. I bet if there was $25,ooo feng shui baby turd they’d fight over it.

That’s it. I’m going to move to Beverly Hills and making up some niche job for myself so I can charge $200 an hour. “Professional infant mani/pedi consultant.” No one steal that. You make up your own fake jobs.

Not sure if any of you saw the photos of Natalie Portman at her premier for Black Swan the other night, so I posted them so that you could see her awesome clutch! I want it. The designer is Olympia Le-Tan and I guess the Lolita book purse Natalie carried is one of her latest designs. Now don’t get too excited, I clicked on her website thinking these puppies were going to run say $300 maybe $400 – oh no, try about $1500. Perhaps I’ll handcraft one for myself out of felt and hot glue instead.

Hehe, you know what book she should do next? Er, series of books.

So today in preparation for our trip to Hawaii, I went to get a bikini wax. The full monty one if you must know. This is the second time I’ve ever done this – the first being right before my wedding. I had forgotten both the pain and the complete awkwardness that it entails. Seriously, how would someone want to do this for a living? They see more of you than your husband does!

But anyway, yes as expected, it hurt like hell. Or for you Twi-hards, it burned like a vampire transformation. And for those of you who don’t get that reference, it pretty much looked like this, except the waxing wasn’t on my chest. But I survived. Nothing that a little aloe vera can’t fix. I hope.

While I was paying though, I noticed that one of the waxing options could be your arms. I’d never thought about this really. Do people wax their arms?? Are women not supposed to have hair on their arms? I suppose celebrities don’t really. But then again, they probably have the full body wax job. Eyebrows to toes. No wonder their skin looks perfect. It’s all smooth like a baby’s butt. Anyway, seriously back to the arms, is this a new hair trend that I’m unaware of. Someone fill me in.
