Is it me, or has Cinco de Mayo become a much bigger holiday than it used to be? I mean I don’t even remember recognizing it all in college – and believe me, if there was even the smallest excuse to drink, I’d use it. But I can’t remember celebrating it. Not until I was living in Chicago a few years ago in May did I even recognize it as a holiday and celebrated with some cheap margaritas. Last year was probably the most I’ve ever done, and that was going out with people to a popular margarita bar to celebrate and get cheap light up Corona necklaces. It seems as though this holiday is becoming the new St. Patrick’s Day. I’m not complaining really. Just wondering what color they’ll dye the Chicago River. Dirty yellow like a margarita? Gross.
Celebrate! With sombrero and sliced avocado? tableware!
EDIT: I was just informed that I am old. Of course we didn’t celebrate cinco de mayo in college! It was during exams! Stupid stupid.
