I’m pretty sure there is some sort of “fakery” in our neighborhood. If you’ve ever watched Weeds, you know what I’m talking about. Instead of a fake bakery though, it’s a coffee shop. A Jamaican coffee making, Bob Marley CD selling, drug dealing coffee shop. Well I think it’s a coffee shop. They have coffee packages and Jamaican music albums in the window. The place so bizarre I’m afraid to go inside. There are NEVER any customers. The only human I’ve seen inside is an older man that wears sunglasses indoors and stands at the window statue-still like he’s watching for something. I seriously thought he was a mannequin for a while because he stands in the exact same position RIGHT in the glass. It’s startling when you walk by. Our neighbors have already called the city to report the place because they’re also convinced something shady’s going down. I sure hope they reported this anonymously because drug dealers are not people you want to mess with. And there apartment number is only 1 digit different than ours. An easy mistake. So for now, we’re going to keep an eye on the place, and maybe get enough courage to go in there together and case the joint. To be continued…

It’s just the buildings that are crooked.

This photo someone took in SF is trippy! Don’t worry, the building isn’t falling over. They just tilted the camera. Here’s the straight photo.

And yes. I live on a street (or as I like to refer to it, an urban StairMaster) just like this.

I was walking through our neighborhood this evening and noticed a few new boutiques that have popped up, as well as some that have changed their decor. I love discovering new little boutiques All teeny and pretty. But I don’t like being the only one in there and being watched while I look around. Even worse are those store people that literally follow you around the store trying to help. And since it’s so teeny you feel obligated to talk. But oh well, I do it anyway because I still love all the little new crafty things I find.

My new favorite store (which actually has been around for a while – I just haven’t been in during the holidays) is Terra Sol. They go hog wild every holiday and redesign the entire store with all holiday things. I literally wanted to buy every glitter-covered ornament and doodad in there. And inside smelled so good! Like a gingerbread house mixed with evergreens. Here’s a little video of the store. So cute!

Unlike my last post of Giants fans rioting in the streets, these people are dancing in it. 2 guys set up a makeshift DJ booth at the entrance of a dry cleaner in my neighborhood and played “Don’t Stop Believing” to the crowd. Awesome.

These videos were shot using tilt-shift photography. The lens is adjusted for a shallow depth of field that simulates a miniature scene. Cool eh?

Fear the Beard.

Some people consider Giants relief pitcher Brian Wilson a bit odd, I think he’s hilarious. All of his interviews crack me up. Aside from painting his beard black with shoe polish (hence “fear the beard”) he claims to be a certified ninja and was fined $1000 for wearing orange cleats to a game. Amazing. Here is a clip of his “greatest hits” interviews. You never know what he’s going to say. I love it. FACT.
