Tomorrow night is the battle of the doggies. The UConn Huskies VS the Butler Bulldogs in the NCAA men’s basketball tourney. It’s a close match-up. Hard to say which puppies are cuter. What do you think?

That’s what my life has consisted of for the past few days and I’m not complaining! I’m spending some time in NC this week, (fyi it’s 75 degrees and sunny here. Heaven), and while my parents are at work during the day I’ve been applying to more jobs and babysitting the puppies. Yes, that’s right, that was plural. PUPPIES. Remember when we told you about my parents adopting Willie’s sister Patsy? Well, she’s here and boy is she a little spitfire. She was the runt of the litter and always had to fight for status, and that is definitely evident. Willie and Patsy have been spending the past few days getting reacquainted and lets just say there has been a lot of growling, nipping, apparent jealousy and humping (ew, gross). Willie obviously has no clue what he’s doing, I caught him trying to hump Patsy’s head once, but he just has raging hormones! (TMI?) They’re obviously playing because they know when to stop, but good Lord it seems like they’re waging war against each other. Check out the pics below, and there will be a video coming along too whenever YouTube decides to finish downloading it. Nope, YouTube refuses to download my video. Boo.
But at the end of the day they’re still brother and sister. They eat together, drink together, sleep together and even go to the bathroom together. Cute.
All right guys, it’s official. We’re 23 days out from bringing our new little fluff ball home. I’m so excited I’m about to bust out of my clothes! There’s nothing like a cute pet picture or YouTube video to brighten your day. In honor of our new little one, I’ll post a new video/picture everyday leading up to his arrival!
We’re about 99.9% sure that Willie will be our new little addition to our family. However, there are two families ahead of us who will choose their puppies from the 6 available. According to our breeder, neither family is interested in Willie so we should be good to go. But, honestly, they’re all beautiful and snuggly and perfect and I shouldn’t tie myself to just one.
Enjoy!
There’s been lots of talk about puppies in my apartment over the past few weeks. Weeeeeeee! I love puppies. But there’s so many breeds out there to choose from; where is a girl to start? Jeff and I have been doing our research. We’ve been visiting puppy stores, researching breeders, and learning about which doggies truly make wonderful big city/apartment companions. For the longest time it was going to be the Westie, and then it was the Norfolk, and then it was the Norwich. In reality, they’re all adorable, lovable perfect little dogs, but I had never really met one that melt my heart completely. So, then we started thinking about getting a mixed dog breed, or a “hybrid dog” as we like to call it, and it was then that we discovered all the hilarious names that are out there for these special cross-bred dogs. Feast your eyes on the funny names and the cute that is associated with them!

But feast your eyes on the little guy we’re currently looking at. He’s a little Havanese and we’ve fallen totally in love. He comes from a very reputable breeder in Long Island and is just a little darling! We’re not going to jump too quickly though because we don’t want to get our hopes up. But I’ll keep you posted!

I was in doggy heaven today. HEAVEN. As previously mentioned, I went to the American Kennel Club’s “Meet the Breeds” event today with Jeffers. It. Was. Awesome. I was on cute puppy overload. Everywhere I turned, there was cuteness abound. Jeff and I made our way through each of the booths visiting with each of the 160 breeds of dogs, (yes, I had to stop and see every one of them. They were all cute and special!) Jeff is really only into small dogs, and I’m quite partial to them as well, but I do have a soft spot for a sweet Sheltie or Golden Retriever. But having one of those dogs in the city would just be cruel and not fair to him/her. So, we made our way around already knowing which breeds we were interested in….the Maltese, the Yorkie, the Scottie, and the Westie (gasp! They didn’t have a Westie booth!!! Oh well).
Here’s one of the Maltese dogs that was there. She was awfully poofy, and if we ended up getting a Maltese I would keep it cut short and NEVER put a bow in it’s hair, ew. She was very cute, but I almost felt like I would break her she was so small and fragile!
And then we moved onto a new dog breed, the Norwich Terrier. I already knew a little bit about this breed but never really considered one as a pet until we saw him in person. What a cutie!! But very camera shy, I never could get him to sit still and smile, but he sure was adorable and very sweet. I thought I was completely in love. I’ve come to terms with the fact that we probably don’t want to have a Westie in the city, (they get to be about 20-25 lbs so that would be way too heavy to carry around), so this new Norwich Terrier was definitely becoming a probable choice for a dog. And then I met…….

WILLY!
Isn’t he just precious! He’s a Norfolk Terrier and just about the cutest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on. It was love at first sight, and he seemed to think so too because he gave me kisses all over my face. The picture makes him look bigger, but he’s only 10-12 pounds, a perfect size! He’s very smart, he shook my hand and I just about stole him out of the booth. He has a sister as well, who is just as adorable and sweet. Her name is Lilly!

Look at that face
Lilly (pictured above) is a little smaller than her brother, Willy, and she has a red coat. We liked her very much too! I don’t know about Jeff, but I think I’ve fallen in love with a new breed. We left the show with big smiles on our faces, but no dogs in hand, or in purses.
Oh and then we passed by this store window on the way home?

Anyone? Anyone?
Creepy.
A: What is that thing in the window? It’s not a doggy.

Just a quick note to let you know that today Jeff and I are going to the AKC Meet the Breeds Dog Show down on 39th Street and 11th Avenue. It’s pretty much a giant animal show dedicated to allowing people to come in and learn about 160 breeds of dogs and 90 breeds of cats, (I didn’t realize there were that many types of cats in the world!) But we’re on our way down there now and I will be sure to take lots of pictures of the furry poo poo faces and post them when we return!!!
I’ll try not to smuggle a doggy back with me. No promises

For those of you hesitating to get a pet because you think it’s too expensive, well brush that worry aside! The HAPPY Act, a new piece of legislation trying to be passed, could completely change your outlook. If it passes, pet owners could receive up to a $3,500 tax break, (depending on what tax bracket they fall in, blah blah), on their pet expenses. That means basic food, care and veterinary expenses could almost be completely taken care of or at least reduced! The only qualifications are:

Don't get angry at me for this!
1. The pet must be legally owned. No border jumping collie dogs!

You can't resist me!
2. The pet must be domesticated. So do’nt run out and buy yourself a chimpanzee like the Kardashians. That won’t cut it!

I think we had at least 6 goldfish named Chleo when we were little
3. The pet must be alive. Wow, it’s almost borderline sad that they actually have to define this as a qualification.
By golly I think I’ve found the loop hole on how to get my own little poo poo face like this one:

How much is that doggy in the window?
Is anyone else shopping around for a new furry friend?
Dear readers,
Nothing pleases me more than when I find a new cute puppy video on youtube. And today when I found 3, (well 2 new ones, and one old one that I just can’t get enough of), it certainly made my day much better. Since I’m posting this at midnight, I’m hoping that most of you wake up tomorrow morning, flip on your computers, click on our blog and instantly have your heart warmed by the following videos. Go get your tissues, you might just get teary eyed.
Gah! I just can’t take it. First, there’s a puppy running into the mirror. And then there’s a puppy rolling around on the floor, trying to get up and looking like many of my friends on a Friday night in college. Part of me laughs hysterically at this, and then another part of me has a lot of anger towards the cameraman, pick the puppy up already! He clearly looks like a turtle who has fallen and cannot get up! And then finally the cute puppy whistle, which wins the overall cuteness award in my books. I think I’m on a cuteness overload.
