Language
They speak Frenglish. It’s amazing how easily they can switch from French to English and then back again. It makes me wish I knew a second language. I did learn to cuss in Quebec though. Ostie!
French version of an Auto Zone.
Culture
Evidently they don’t take kindly to drinking…
But Starbucks’ come in castles!
Evidently a hot commodity here.
And this is just hilariously offensive. Oh Canada.
Business
The office of Bob Loblaw is in Montreal!
Shopping
FucklaMode. What!? It’s not as bad as it sounds. The F-bomb to the frenchies in Quebec means “To heck with” and “la mode” means fashion. We found this store that carries these shirts in Old Town Quebec City. It’s the only place in the world to buy them, unless you want to go online of course. I’ll be wearing mine soon enough around SF. Can’t wait to see the looks I get.
Food
A Montreal delicacy or late night drunk food: Poutine. What is it you ask? Fries, gravy and cheese curds. It’s as healthy as it sounds. Once is enough for me thanks.
And you can’t go anywhere french without eating a crepe!
Fashion
Hey maybe people in D.C. should wear this!
I especially like the leopard fur cuffs.

I’m finally back home! It’s been a fun and crazy and HOT 12 days and I have lots of things to show and talk about from my trip home then to D.C. then to Montreal and then to Quebec City. Yes, I need a vacation from my vacation. But for now I’m catching up on all 16482920475 emails in my inbox and the 62729 voicemails on my phone (I had to shut off my iphone during the Canadian part of the trip – the horror!). So for now I leave you with Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast because I couldn’t stop shouting sacré bleu! every few minutes while we were in Montreal. No wonder the Frenchies hate us.

Randy and I are headed to Montreal and Quebec City this week for our 2nd anniversary! We’ve never been so anyone who has recommendations for us, we’re listening! Our French is a little (a lot) rusty, but we plan to use a lot of pointing and gesturing.
Last year we were in Vancouver, “the Couve” for our first anniversary. I think we have some sort of Canadian fetish.
