Atlanta

I was watching “Say Yes to the Dress” – the Atlanta one with all the crying and mama-drama. I love it. But this episode involved Daddy though. The bride in this episode was actually coming back to the store because her dad claimed he didn’t like her dress. I saw the dress. It was nothing out of the ordinary and any heterosexual male would be completely fine with. Plus the girl was pretty so she really couldn’t go wrong in anything.

So she goes back with her mom looking for a dress that she thinks her dad may like. Basically it comes down to the original and noe other that you can clearly tell she’s not thrilled with. Fortunately after lots of stress and tears she found the courage to stick with the original dress that her dad didn’t like.

I am thankful that MY DAD would be happy with any dress I picked out. Even a white paper bag. If it makes me happy, it makes him happy. What kind of dad would tell their daughter, who clearly was excited about her new dress, that he didn’t like it!?

I stayed in last night while the hubby was out and watched girly shows. I saw that Say Yes to the Dress is now in Atlanta. It’s kind of awesome because you get this extra drama now with bitchy controlling southern mommas and prima donna southern belles.

I also watched the second season of Four Weddings where 4 ladies go to each others’ weddings and judge them. The winner gets a free honeymoon. To me, this is a nightmare. Girls are judgmental enough without being handed score cards. I mean they’re not actually flashing cards during the event, but they are taking strong mental notes.

Watching 3 episodes in a row last night (exciting Friday night I know) has shown me that you can’t please everyone. You should just have a wedding that you (and your husband) love. I mean even among only 4 women, what one thought was gorgeous, another thought was tacky. Some women love to bedazzle everything, others are monogram obsessed, some love color and some wear black wedding dresses. Basically no one is ever going to have your eyes and brain and see your wedding like you do. So here’s my advice to you potential brides out there: don’t worry about what you think you’re supposed to do for a wedding, do what you like! Even if your ring bearer is R2D2 and your groomsmen are Storm Troopers.

Or your wedding dress is made of cream puffs.

Or you prefer making your wedding guests carry your mile long veil through the town.

Even if you recite your wedding vows to each other while repelling down the side of a building – a bit dangerous, but hey it’s your thang.

Do what you love!

I can understand canceling a flight when it looks like this. But last time I checked, this NEVER happens in NC.

I can understand canceling a flight when it looks like this. But last time I checked, this NEVER happens in NC.

Well folks, good news. The Airport Gods were good to us today and Jeff and I were able to get out of New York before the behemoth of a blizzard rolled into town. Whew. And to make the deal even sweeter, they threw in free wireless on our flight. That’s right, I’m broadcasting to you live currently from 30,000 feet above sea level. Pretty sweet deal. After such a crappy ordeal with being one of only 2 flights canceled out of Laguardia to Raleigh-Durham yesterday, I’d say that Delta has somewhat redeemed themselves for their minor freak out about the possibility of there being snow at RDU airport. A possibility that was proven false, as the airport only saw rain, rain and more rain throughout the evening hours. LAME.

But, yippee skippee, we’re on our way home to good old NC; well hopefully. We still have one more flight out of Atlanta. So cross your fingers and toes that all goes well or else we’re renting a car and taking our chances on the road. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of family, warmer temperatures, (warmer meaning 40 degrees as opposed to the normal 20 we’ve grown accustomed to), and stuffing our faces with Christmas goodies. Weight loss New Year’s Resolution here we come!
