Unemployment

Over the last month or so, I’ve been documenting my morning hair. I woke up one morning, looked at myself in the mirror and found my hair to be particularly huge and out of control (I had slept on it wet the night before) – so I decided I would photograph how it looks every morning over a few weeks time. Here is what I discovered:

Well I survived our shoot on Thursday. No one got shot or caught any shrapnel so that’s a plus. I did half expect to look down and see myself bleeding and not even know I’d been hit. But luckily, no blood was shed. I did learn that guns sound different than they do in the movies. And that they’re WAY louder, like a huge BOOM that you feel in your chest. It took about 10 shots before I stopped jumping from the noise.

I took some behind the scenes footage that I think we’re going to edit into something viewable, so for now you guys can look at my iPhone pics from the set. My biggest regret is that I didn’t get to hold a gun. We were in such a rush there was no time. I did get to see the real Dirty Harry gun Clint used. That “made my day.” Hahahah. Sorry.

Shoot Shoot

Today I got to fly down to LA (just for the day, meh) to go to a photo shoot. We’re literally going to be shooting random objects with guns and blowing them up in high-def slow motion. I’m excited. There are so many things I’d like to see blown up! Like a big ole jar of pickles, or jello!

Here’s a little video for inspiration (sorry about the ending):

Crappy Day

Finally over. Ah there’s nothing quite like home. Nothing sounds better right now than curling up on the couch with my little family and watching our new Netflix DVD. Wine would make this perfect. :)

HT(F)ML

Since the internet doesn’t look like it’s going away, and we’re quickly headed towards living in the Matrix, I decided I should enhance my web developing and coding knowledge. I took a class today that taught us HTML code in 8 hours. Tomorrow we’re going to tackle CSS. It’s a crash course obviously, but hopefully I’ll come out of this a little more knowledgeable about something and hey, maybe I’ll try to shake things up and redesign this blog! Or, maybe I’ll wake up and find out that my life is all a computer-generated dream, and that robots have taken over earth. Then I wouldn’t need to know this code crap because we’re already screwed. Eh, oh well. I tried.

Ugh. My Cinco de Mayo turned out to be a Cinco de Sucky. I was home all day sick. But not the fun kind of sick where you feel good enough to lay on the couch and watch daytime TV. It was the debilitating fever with chills sick where all you want to do is lay in the bed and die. Fun. So no margaritas for me. Fortunately today i feel a lot better and got to go back to work. Yay?  For some unknown reason people were concerned I wouldn’t be able to play in the game on Saturday. Really? It’s nice of them to think my presence will influence the game (in a positive way). I assured them I would rest up and be healthy enough to hit some ground-outs. Yeah! Play ball!

Have you guys heard of the lying down game? It amazes me the kinds of trends that catch on. Something so ridiculously simple as lying face down on the ground and taking a picture. Yet it seems to be pretty popular. I can’t help but have the urge to do it too. If I were going to lie face down somewhere though and take a photo, it would be either in front of a cable car full of tourists or somewhere scenic like in front of The Painted Ladies. Where would you do it? Come on, you know you want to.

Check out more photos here.

My office had a power outage this morning around 11am. After about 15 minutes of sitting around looking at each other, what did we decide to do? Go to the bar of course. So half a Bloody Mary, 1 nasty shot and a beer later (approx 2 hours) the power came back on and we went back to work…a little buzzed. Good times. Thank God the bar had power or else we really would’ve been dealing with a disaster. Whew.

Clothes Swap!

My friends and I organized a little clothing swap last weekend. I’d never done it before, but thought it sounded like a cool idea. I went through my closet and was extra liberal in getting rid of things than I usually am because I knew my clothes would be getting a happy home with my friends.

I ended up with 3 giant bags full of stuff. I’m amazed that despite getting rid of 3 giant bags of clothes I still have a closet jam-packed full of stuff – yet I still have nothing to wear. How is that possible??

Anyway, we got takeout food to eat and after polishing off a bottle of wine, dove into each others’ clothes. We spread them all over the living room, sort of like a makeshift store. There were shirts, sweaters, hats, pants and shoes! Well grabbed clohtes we liked and started trying them on and weeding things out. It helps to have friends that are close to your size, that way you don’t have to get things altered. It helps to have more people too (we only had 3), that way you don’t feel like too much of a loser if no one picks your clothes.

I did end up getting rid of some of mine. I like to think my taste isn’t too awful. The other items that didn’t go were too small – at least that’s what I was told and choose to believe :) I myself ended up with a pair of jeans, a pair of capri pants, 4 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes (Jeffrey Campbell!) and a scarf. Not bad considering it was all free right?

Def worth doing with your friends if you’re craving some new clothes and are hard up for cash like me!
