Martha Stewart

So, a few weeks ago I filled you in on a little secret, but now I can tell you everything! So, next Wednesday Jeff and I are going to be taking part in an event that will be featured in the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine! The event is designed around showcasing Darcy Miller’s, (of Martha Stewart), illustrative talent. Families and brides/grooms will be coming to the event to have their picture taken by famous photographer Donna Newman. When the picture session is complete, Darcy will then illustrate the actual photograph taken. Calligrapher Bernard Maisner will then create a banner of the family’s or couple’s names and everything will be placed into a shadow box for the family or bride/groom to take home.

So, Jeff and I will be one of the brides and grooms taking part. We’re so excited, (or I’m so excited and he’s just being really nice to me, haha). Martha Stewart has decided to do a feature on the event in one of the upcoming magazines so I’ll keep you posted about that. I’m also working this event, so I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures for you so I can blog all about it!

A: Take lots and lots of pics of the set (and you with Darcy!) or make Jeff do it!!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m going to be part of a feature article in an upcoming edition of the Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine. Eeek! I’m not too clear on the details as of yet, but I’m pretty sure the photos will be taken on September 23rd. So, once everything is set in stone and I’m completely positive about everything, I’ll fill you guys in! How cool is this? And my friend Ashley’s going to take part in the fun too!

Guess this means I need to go to the gym, stat!

Can you find your name?

Can you spot your name?

I’m done, I’m done, I’m done! So sorry for the lack of blog posts from me recently, but I’m happy to say that I have officially conquered the wedding thank you cards! Ha, take that! I spent the weekend finishing up the 92 post-wedding day thank you cards and wishing I was ambidextrous. Man, that would have been sweet. Sadly now, I’m waiting for the basic motor skills to return to my right hand. I’m now going to go sort them by zip code, so that Patty post office worker doesn’t throw a hissy fit for dropping 92 randomly organized letters in her lap, and then ceremoniously take them to the post office! Here’s a fun fact: Throughout the entire wedding adventure, I wrote a grand total of 228 thank you cards. 228. That’s crazy and must be some sort of Guinness World Record. Well, maybe not, but I’m just going to give myself a little pat on the back for finishing them all and it hasn’t even been 2 months since the wedding. My new name is Emily Post.

Martha Stewart would be so proud of me :)

marioproducts

Ladies, I have found a miracle product: the Mario Badescu skin care line. I am not joking. Let me give you a quick background story about how I found these products. So it was about 2 weeks ago and I noticed that my skin was way broken out. Ugh, I’m 23 years old, shouldn’t I be passed this already? Apparently my skin was reacting to my new environment, (NC = humid climate and good for skin, NYC = dryer climate with pollutants and not good for skin), and decided to make  a pepperoni pizza out of my face. Yuck. So, needless to say I was distraught. It bummed me out! So, I decided to pay a little visit to a Clinique consultant because their products usually work well with my skin. Off I go to Sephora because that’s the closest store with Clinique products to me. I explain to them my situation: 1) I have skin that breaks out, 2) I need a good skin care regimen that will take care of my skin while I live in the city, 3) I have VERY sensitive skin. Key word being SENSITIVE. So, they give me the Clinique Acne Solutions Skin Care Kit to use, saying that it will be perfect for my face. Well, 2 days later, I wake up with a chemical burn on the lower half of my face and my skin was peeling away! Disgusting right? Ugh! I was furious and crying and poor Jeff got the majority of the wrath, (“But honey, your skin looks beautiful.” …”Jeff, my face is falling off, I don’t consider that beautiful in the slightest.”)

So, after yelling at the Sephora people to give me refund since their “skin specialist” sold me a product that ruined my sensitive skin, I found myself sitting at my computer googling to find an answer to my skin problems. And low and behold, I found a gem, MARIO BADESCU. I spent the rest of the day reading all about it and finally decided it was worth a shot. It’s a very popular skin care line that lots of celebrities use, along with thousands of other clients. Lucky for me, their only salon nationwide is located in the city, so the next day I walked across the city to 52nd and 2nd and paid the salon a little visit. They were the nicest people!! They immediately took me into one of their consultation rooms, (without an appointment!), and talked with me about what was going on with my skin. They recommended some products to help calm my skin down and said that I had 30 days to try them out and if they didn’t work, that I could bring them back for a full refund. Well, to keep an extremely long story short, I AM NOT RETURNING THESE PRODUCTS NOW OR EVER! They have saved my skin, in as little as 2 weeks! I am amazed! The products are surprisingly not insanely expensive, but they’re well worth the price and they last for months. And the salon gives wonderful and affordable, ($65!), European facials. I’m thinking about giving a gift certificate for a facial to my sister for an early Christmas present when she comes to visit over Thanksgiving, and I’ll get one too! And their celebrity clientele is ridiculous. Jennifer Aniston comes into the salon every week, maybe I’ll get to meet her!

You guys have to check out Mario Badescu, I promise you won’t be disappointed!

So, hi, my name is Karen and I’m a MARTHA-holic. GASP! I know, I know! It’s a problem, but there’s just something about that Martha Stewart blue color that really floats my boat. When I registered for my wedding, I got made fun of a lot because the majority of my registry at Macy’s was overtaken by Martha Stewart products and everything was primarily for my kitchen. I couldn’t help it! It was like the products were just calling my name and telling me to shoot them with the registry gun, (pow pow!). Martha Stewart kitchen towels, hand mixer, blender, ice cream scoop, oven mitts, digital kitchen timer, paper towel holder, salt and pepper shakers….all absolutely needed things? Well, no. Do I have them? Yes. Witness exhibits A and B:

Martha Kitchen

I Heart Martha!

Sigh. Isn’t she beautiful? I absolutely adore cooking, so having a pretty kitchen just makes cooking that much more fun! Sadly, however, it doesn’t stop there. As you know, I’m a recent newlywed. I spent 16 months following in my sister’s footsteps by using Martha Stewart as my ultimate wedding planning guide…and boy did she deliver! She’s fabulous! Martha Stewart wedding magazines were some of my most prized possessions and I frequented MarthaStewart.com/Weddings like it was my job. The weddings she featured were always gorgeous and she had the most crafty ideas. In my opinion, everything about the Martha Stewart line is quintessentially classic and super beautiful.

Needless to say, it doesn’t take too much to make this girl happy :)

A: I do loooove me some Martha Stewart Weddings. That was one of the hardest things to give up after the wedding. I really don’t have an excuse to buy those magazines anymore and I miss them. There were so many pretty ideas in there.

As for your kitchen supplies, yes I can vouch. I’ve never seen so may aqua blue colored things in my life. I hope you don’t get tired of it any time soon! And since we’re sharing kitchens I’ll share mine too. I don’t believe I have one thing Martha blue in it. The horror! I know i know. I have navy blue though.
